Programs That Propel Families Forward
Support That Meets Every Family Where They Are
At the Mitchell Thorp Foundation, we believe every family’s journey is unique, and so should be our response.
We offer five primary programs: Medical & Home Assistance, Healing & Rehabilitation, Champion Day, ADA Conversions, and Youth Leadership Council. Each comprise of several support services. Programs have been structured with the intention of supporting eligible* families to achieve and maintain the Six Dimensions of Health- Occupational, Physical, Social, Mental, Spiritual, and Emotional- as defined by the National Wellness Institute.

Medical & Home Assistance
This program provides financial support for required medical treatments and equipment that are not covered by insurance. It also helps pay for home assistance such as utility bills or food and transportation services (gas cards, airfare, hotel stays).
Champion Day
When a child is fighting for their life, families often lose the chance to simply laugh, play, and enjoy precious moments together. The Champion Day Program changes that by giving families unforgettable experiences—whether it’s cheering on their favorite team at a sporting event, riding roller coasters at Disneyland, or spending a special day at the zoo.
These one-day experiences create joy, restore hope, and remind families they are not alone in their journey.

Healing & Rehabilitation
This program helps support physical therapy services beyond treatment, counseling for the child and their family, and sibling support through tutors and camps.
ADA Conversion
This Program provides accessibility requirements for homes and conversion vans, ensuring they can be used safely and effectively by people with disabilities. Affording them the freedom to enjoy their time together for as long as that may be.

Youth Leadership Council
This program provides leadership training for students from 9th-12th grade. The Mitchell Thorp Foundation is all about helping kids and we believe the youth in our community need a place to volunteer and make a difference, kids helping kids.
*After applying for assistance, the Board will review applications and provide services for immediate needs. The individualized services may include financial support, mental & behavioral health support, home support, medical support/advocacy, fundraisers, and/or referrals. Financial assistance saves families from financial crisis due to overwhelming medical bills. All families receive culturally competent, trauma-informed, equitable access to affordable, high-quality services, resources, and financial assistance.
Upon acceptance as one of Mitchell Thorp Foundation's client families, you will have the choice to opt-in for a free crowdfunding page to raise money for your child. All money raised goes directly to vendors of your services and there are no taxes or fees. Just send us a picture and your child's journey description and we will set it up for you.
