Baby Ezra was born with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) mom has been in the hospital six months with him since he was born on May 4, 2020. His team of doctors & immunologists have determined that he has athymia, and will ultimately need a thymus transplant. This is a very lengthy process, potentially up to 2/3 years on the waitlist, could be up to a year at Duke in North Carolina, and a year or longer after that before the thymus has been functioning enough to provide him a sufficient immune system. It is going to be a long road of isolation to protect him and so many adjustments at home. Ezra will have to live in a bubble due to his current condition. The family was referred to MTF from Kaiser Permanente for assistance. Thanks to donors like you we have been able to help this family under the Medical & Home Assistance Program.
