Tanner & Pria

​Back in January we began the application process of getting Tanner a certified services dog.  There is a lot of paperwork and requirements in the process, and they tell us it can take up to two years.   If I did not know better, I would have thought we were applying for a mortgage not a dog.  I have filed out over 50 pages so far, crazy huh?  Unfortunately, we were declined by Canine Companion due to Tony’s allergies.  Tanner will need a dog that does not produce the dander, meaning it will have to be a doodle breed and there are more organization that train retrievers and labs than doodles.  

​After several applications and phone calls we found a great organization in Menifee that trains golden-doodles. We have started the process with them and have paid the deposit in hopes that Tanner will have a dog within a year.  The only bummer about not being able to go through Canine Companion is the cost.  Canine Companion does not charge the recipient for the dog.  It is 100% donated to those with disabilities, including the training.  The company in Menifee, Canine Support Team charges what we are learning is a fraction of the total coast of the dog and training, however, it is still a mountain for us.   We received a call a few days ago and this is really happening.  We are moving forward and will begin the interview process next week.  Pretty exciting.  

​Unfortunately, we need to figure out how we are going to raise the funds, ($6,500) before Tanner can begin the training.  If you would like to help us get Tanner his dog and training, please consider donating to Tanners dog fund, or if you know of any grants, please reach out and let us know.  We also welcome your prayers, pray for God’s will and for Tanner to not only have a special dog, but a buddy.  Thank you all do much for being apart of our community and lives.  We could not do this crazy journey without the love and support of our village.
